On the 10th Jan 07, Apple had finally annouced their very first iPhone after so many years of rumours. I had been waiting for this day ever since my very first own iPod (3rd Gen). I always look at those rumour pics and wonder when will this day arrive.
Let's see... This phone comes with 3.5 inch touch screen LCD (320 x 480 pixels) with just only 11.6mm thick. But this is something different from normal touch screen LCD we had seen before. Apple had developed a new, patented technology called the Multi-Touch, which means it just require a user's finger for the handset! No stylus required at all. This is something really new to me and wish to try this out. It even has an accellerometer which allows it to tell whether you are holding the device in either landscape or portrait mode so that it can turn the display orientation correspondingly!
It's a phone that runs on a portable version of OS X, 2 megapixels camera with wi-fi (802.11b/g) and Bluetooth 2.0 support. But it does not support 3G and this is a little disappointment that I had. Seems like this smart phone really smart as it had a Proximity sensor that will turn off the display when the iPhone is near to your ear. Not only that, it also equipped with Ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the display's brightness.
iPhone had great web browsing capabilities thanks to the Safari web browser with integrated Google search plus the Google Maps application that can take you all over the world - unfortunately without a GPS receiver. This software sounds great for a person like me as I need to get a map when going to unfamiliar places.
This smart phone comes with 4 GB or 8 GB internal memory which you can have music playback which last up to 16 hours or watching movie and photos. The release of this phone will be quiet late, somewhere Q4 2007 for Europe and Q1 2008 for Asia. But it will be available for USA in June 2007. Can't wait for it to arrive in my hand but it will be in year 2008.
